  • Like it much better than previous bottle. Rich and smooth but light at the same time. Moderately long palate. A bit hot. Some cola, light red fruit. Should probably continue to evolve nicely, but this is my last of the 2006s.

  • Not bad but not great. Was hoping for more depth and development. Will hold last bottle for a little while longer.

  • Drinking quite nicely now -- cork was easily extracted with an automatic wine opener, so I was very pleased with this bottle I recently purchased from Benchmark. I wouldn't hold onto these for much longer though.
Light in color for a pinot, but showed a lovely aromatic profile of raspberry, spice, and a hint of floral. Medium bodied, delicate with enough complexity to easily bring you back for a 2nd glass.
Shows the purity of RRV fruit and sports good length on the finish.
This reminded me of a Martinelli, with less spice.
Drank very well on its own, but paired well with salmon as well.

  • Drinking beautifully now! Clearly the best of the 4 bottles!

  • The cork on this bottle came apart as the bottle was opened. We managed to extract most of it, leaving minimal cork in the wine, which was a gorgeous, quite translucent, orange-purple in color. That's right, this managed to look old and young at the same time. The subdued nose displays sweet, sugar-dusted strawberry, with peaches and cream and a shaker of cinnamon. The palate had raspberry as the prime fruit flavor, which gives way on the mid-palate to a slightly oxidized combination of caramel, treacle, and nuts. It has a lot in common with good tawny Port, actually, albeit with less overt alcohol (though still substantial at 14.6% ABV). The finish has plenty of orange-peel acidity, and solid, medium length. Overall, this is a quality bottle, though the ~$38 CT value price might be pushing it a bit. Clearly based on this bottle, though, this is a bit past peak, and it breaks down somewhat toward the end of the night. I would open them sooner rather than later if you have any left.
