J.J. Prüm Whelener Sonnenuhr (Mostly Auslese) Dinner (Rouge Tomate): Ceramics and red clay. Sawdust and varnished wood. Complex and chemical. This is a lot different than the '76. A touch of spritz on the palate with brown butter, cinnamon, and fall spices. Straddling sweet and savoury.

Fabulous wine. A glorious shimmering light gold with a hint of green. Laden with candied nectarine and peach fruit. Beautiful acidity. Perfectly balanced. Goes on forever. Racy. No where near fading.

Rieslingfeier - BYOB Main Event (Rouge Tomate, NYC): Poured a touch by a wandering John Kapon. Huge spice on the nose - creamy with great acid, tangerine, dry, nuts.I did not get a note on the palate or scores. But the nose was a 5.5-6/6 and the wine overall was in the 17-18/20 range. I wish I had more time with it.

JK's 50th Birthday: Superb acidity, rich, chewy, some (but not at all overwhelming) petrol notes as it warms up. Really really delicious. 96-97

Rich, honeyed aroma. Superbly concentrated yet wonderfully fresh palate. Honey, lemon, spice, very long, extremely young yet with respectable complexity, tangerine, pink grapefruit. Brilliant!
