Rieslingfeier - BYOB Main Event (Rouge Tomate, NYC): Poured a touch by a wandering John Kapon. Huge spice on the nose - creamy with great acid, tangerine, dry, nuts.I did not get a note on the palate or scores. But the nose was a 5.5-6/6 and the wine overall was in the 17-18/20 range. I wish I had more time with it.
From a bottle with slight signs of seepage around the cork, although the fill was good and the retailer assured us this was normal. Rich golden color in the glass. There's ripe apricot and peach aromas, but the dominant note is burnt sugar. There's plenty of fruit on the attack, but it fades in the midpalate and tastes a bit hollow, with the burnt sugar flavor prominent. There's a noticeable lack of intensity and acid cut, there's no mosel slatiness, and although the signature coating Prum mouthfeel makes an appearance, there's not much of a finish. Massively disappointing.
