Restaurant note. Pnp and 1 hour slow ox. Medium plus body, medium plus tannin, medium acidity. Brooding deep earth and sauvage, baking spice, dark cherry and dark wild berries, with rocky mineral peeking out of this young Boudots. As it sits in the glass the black cherry flower fragrance becomes more prominent. This wine has plenty of stuffing and has no lack of fruit to hold and improve for several years. If opening- decant. Best to hold for next bottle for 3-4 years.

Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Boudots Dinner (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): This was very good indeed. The nose was a little tight at first, with notes of powdered stone, dried wood spice and violet petals floating around a core of dark berries and plums. With time though, little notes of bramble and herb drifted out as well. Nice and complex on the bouquet. The palate was really nice too, fresh and lively, with fine but firm tannins and wonderfully integrated acidity forming a really nice backdrop for fairly large-scaled flavours of dark cherries and berries, then a lovely trail of earth and mineral, crushed violets and spice, all lingering into a nice long finish. Absolutely delicious now, but with all the qualities needed to age well over the next decade as well.

Starts off with some meaty reduction. Breathes up beautifully and shows luscious red berry fruit coupled with notes of musk and sweet earth. It has good volume and a velvety feel against the gums. The spice laden finish really fans out.

Open an hour before serving. Ripe black and red cherry aromas with baking spice. As always, this comes across as prototypically Vosne to me. Same rich character on palate with good+ and length. Color was slightly murky, but that translated in no way on the nose or palate. In its peak drinking window.

Vosne spice with a bit of rustic Nuits in the glass.
