  • First night this is very tight -- not unpleasant or undrinkable but offering very little on the nose or palate. Second night, red fruits and mild spices roar from the first pour. Midpalate begins aggressive and tart. Eventually it settles down - somewhat - displaying nothing close to the precision of the bouquet. Tannins are tame yet dominant. This needs time but does not display enough to generate great expectation.

  • Quite pleasant for a $20 burgandy. Not very complex but loaded with fruit.

  • weak, watery and a shell of its former self (if it ever was).

  • Medium cherry color with paling rim. Nice, fat aromas of sweet cherries, ripe rasberries, violets, and earth. Elegant and supple on the palate--, rasberries, cherries, plums, and earth, with soft but adequate acidity and soft tannins. Sweet cherries and earth linger nicely on the finish. With it's elegance, it's a nice match to a casual meal, but no great concentration in this wine! According to Ravoni, this vineyard was hit by a rain storm before the harvest, which diluted the grapes and which probably explains why it's an 02 that is fully ready to drink. Still, this is a nice, and identifably Burgundian. $18/bottle.
