Community Tasting Notes (average 90.7 pts. and median of 91 pts. in 52 notes)

Tasted by spectrumphoto on 8/22/2010 & rated 91 points: Solid Chard. Great structure of the softer style in Cali Chard. (169 views)
Tasted by BinVA on 8/19/2010 & rated 93 points: (131 views)
Tasted by JS199 on 6/7/2010 & rated 90 points: No notes. Pretty good, was overshadowed by the 07 Shafer red shoulder. (499 views)
Tasted by Mattshank on 6/6/2010 & rated 91 points: Nose: Pineapple, candied pear and toasty hints. Palate: Nice mouthfeel with still ample acidity after nearly 5 years of age. The pineapple and pear on the nose evidenced with some candied lemon and toast on the finish. The initial finish drops off fairly quickly but then a more diminished, secondary finish lingers on for about 30 seconds. Nice Chard and a steal at $20 on clearance. Went very well with lightly breaded Tilapia fillets. (512 views)
Tasted by RMundell on 4/11/2010 & rated 92 points: Great chardonnay! (725 views)
Tasted by RMundell on 3/28/2010 & rated 92 points: Very nice chardonnay drinking great right now. (757 views)
Tasted by wineglas on 3/15/2010 & rated 91 points: A Baby Kistler with mineral, oak, vanilla, and pear. On the palate toasted oak, vanilla, pear, spices and burnt toast. Medium and concentrated finish that includes butter scotch. Nice wine overall. (892 views)
Tasted by heythatslife on 1/27/2010 & rated 88 points: Now I know what a buttery Cali chard is supposed to taste like. Quite mellow, with toasty oak, butterscotch, apple and ripe tropical fruits. The finish is long, and vanillic. I suppose it's very well done in the style it's trying to pursue, and there are many people who like that style; I found it too flabby for my tastes, and I just can't bring myself to give it a score in the 90+ range. I enjoyed the wine's aromas in the first glass immensely; by the time I finished the bottle, my palate tired of it. (1086 views)
Tasted by wineglas on 1/19/2010 & rated 91 points: Color: Medium gold
Nose: Rich with lemon, almonds, lemon and orange rinds

Taste: Candied apples, lemons, minerals, orange rinds
Finish: Long with a complex elements
Evaluation: Drinking really well right now 91 points (1161 views)
Tasted by rmalloy on 1/10/2010 & rated 84 points: Not bad, but disappointing. The majority of the flavor is oaky, buttery custard. There is strong acidity, but the fruit itself is a muted muddle. The finish is rich butter and tart acid. Though it's a powerful wine, the power seems misdirected to my tastes, and between the acid and richness it's actually quite watery. (1254 views)
Tasted by spendergast on 1/9/2010 & rated 92 points: A very nicely balanced chard with complex white fruit, hint of oak, nice finish. (1282 views)
Tasted by gigabit on 1/5/2010 & rated 92 points: I tasted this wine on the first night with an extra-aged gouda; nothing extraordinary, but solid structure. I finished the bottle three nights later and it was absolutely singing: an ever-evolving nose of lanolin, citrus, honey, flowers, caramel, tropical fruits, and nutmeg; very concentrated on the palate with honey, ripe fruit, velvety texture, and firm acidity; everything finished wonderfully for over 45 seconds. I could still taste the wine over an hour later. A beautiful Chardonnay with depth, richness, balance, and finesse. (The wine was 60-65 degrees as I finished the last glass) (1305 views)
Tasted by VinoJestes on 1/2/2010: Didn't write a note! (1328 views)

Tasted by vine20 on 11/30/2009 & rated 90 points: Pale steel-yellow in color with a significant nose of rich fruit. On the palate, it is very creamy with a backing of baked apple, baked pear, some fig, vanilla and a touch of honey. The balance is medium acid and the finish is long. (1643 views)
Tasted by joshwoodward on 8/30/2009 & rated 86 points: I'm going to have to disagree with the majority here. This wasn't anything special for me. It's a middle-of-the-road California Chardonnay in its decline. Some nice tropical fruits and a relatively medium oaking, but there's not much here other than that and butter. Quite flabby, very low acidity or structure. Chilling this down quite a bit helped a little. Subtle but noticeable over-the-hill Chard notes of biscuit and oxidation. Not my thing, but there are a lot of others who dig this style. $26 (1913 views)

Tasted by rhit on 7/9/2009 & rated 86 points: Dark in color, had some disjointed flavors, which unfortunately weren't accompanied by much complexity. Not for me. (2149 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
