Nose of ripe melon. Very fruity. Apricot and tropical juices. Heavy in the mouth. Sweetness goes dry at the end but it's missing some of the expected spice.

Not at all familiar with gewurtz, so no point of comparison, but this was really excellent. Off-dry in style, like a riesling but fuller flavors, went great with food, but would be perfect on its own. Loved this.

03 Aubert, 06 Hansel, 03 Foley Claret, 00 Clos des Papes, etc. (Rockridge, CA (Oakland)): This was opened to go with the 7 layer dip (refried beans (w/ bacon fat), sour cream (mixed with chili powder), guacamole, cheese, olives, tomatoes, jalapenos. This was a terrific example of what seemed to be a slightly off dry Gewurtztraminer from CA. Spicy peach, hazelnut with a little RS possibly. It was rich but very crisp at the same time with lots of flavor and presence from front to back. Glenn sucked this down as fast as Frank the Tank knocking back a couple of beers in Old School.

(Breggo Cellars Gewürztraminer) Light gold color with greenish tinge; rose petal, floral nose; tangy, odd, oak palate with little varietal character; medium finish

Good. Medium dry, but not as much varietal character as I was hoping for.
