Community Tasting Notes (3) Avg Score: 90.3 points

  • Nose: vanilla, coconut, cashew, white flower, beeswax, pineapple
Notes: tasted blind and drank after a Bourchard Montrachet 1993, consumed after 2.5 hours of opening. The profile from this wine demonstrated traits of a hot year with plenty of tropical fruits. Color is still quite light thus this was in a fairly decent condition and the overall palate is quite full and heavy. 2003 continues to develop and I rarely see premox issues from this vintage which is a good but on the flip side the ripeness and heat can sometimes be a bit overpowering and the wines would lose its purity in most cases. This Montrachet is no exception, although it's still a pretty good white but I would say it lacks the subtly I wish for in top Burgundy whites.

  • On the nose, it exhibited pineapple, nectar, vanilla and pina colada. It was rich and ripe with notable oak alongside low acidity. A bit flabby like most 03 white.

  • La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. 3L from Bouchard. Rich and also very ripe with great concentration. Plenty of energy, far more than most Grand Cru from the vintage.
