PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs, bottle from secondary market -nearly semi-translucent med red with mild bricking -moderately aromatic pretty cherry/kirsch -med acidity, barely med weight with hint of residual cherry liqueur fruit, med/med- tannins but noticeable heat on somewhat medicinal finish -surprisingly light weight and color for a CdP, pretty aromatics, this bottle is probably on its plateau as I'd be concerned the heat will become more prominent as the fruit dissipates further
I had a taste of this and it was terrific. The grape, place, ripeness, all were in balance. The age was not a thing I thought about, because it was perfectly complex like a ripe plum, but not sweet, fat, hot, or heavy.
Consumed over 2 days. A nice smooth easy-drinking CDP. It was slightly clunky upon opening, with anise and slightly large fruit. It mellowed out after about an hour and was relatively balanced. A larger than average and slightly modern CDP that made me think how restrained this is for such a hot vintage, while everyone in this region seems to be making even bigger wines in newer vintages.
Sveta's Bday Bash at Prune: fully mature - no reason to hold. excellent balance for an 03 - no overripe notes at all. clean red fruit, fruit and herb mid, nice long finish. the acidity is fresh but maybe a touch "rough". good wine - and great value.
