The nose was dark, rich and intense with a massive wave of ripe black fruit backed by sweet tobacco, lavender, crushed stone, hints of undergrowth and animal musk. On the palate, I found silky textures with a ripe fruit persona, showing cherry and blackberry, with notes of dark chocolate, brown sugar and confectionary spices. It finished long and spicy with lingering blackberry, a twang of bitter herbs and the slightest acid-heat burn. It's a large-scaled wine, but showing amazing balance.

tasted blind in a group of 3 . 2of the 3 thought it was great and 1 thought it was bad and had a fault. It has a big aroma with funky earthy notes which bothered one of our tasters but not the other two. It reminded me of a northern Rhone.

Original purchase price $18.50! Bought when first offered to the mailing list. Decanted and then followed for 3+ hours. Color very dark. Continued to improve throughout but really began to blossom about two hours out. There's actually a bit of chocolate on the nose along with dark red fruit. The palate is blackberries and dark tart cherries. Some earthy spice. Long finish. This is a brooding dark flavor profile but with some balancing acidity to keep it a bit bright. Quite delicious but it's got years left.

Rich and fruity, but overly alcoholic. Heat dominates, which makes the wine somewhat imbalanced.
