  • WS 90: Very clean, with blackberry, currant and light vanilla aromas. Full and juicy, with chewy tannins and a long finish. Impressive despite a slightly hollow midpalate. Wait and see as this grows in the bottle. May be a bit overextracted this year. Best after 2011. 20,830 cases made. –JS
****** A blend of 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, this second wine of Château Léoville Poyferré is sourced from younger vines in the same vineyard as their first wine. The château's first wine garnered widespread acclaim, so the Pavillon will display many of the same virtues but in a more drink-now style. Look for cassis, toast and raspberry aromas with a fruity, balanced palate. Try it with grilled lamb chops.

  • Initially bought 6 btls a few years back. Yesterday opened up a fourth btl. Right away we could smell the corked wine. The first two btls were amazing. Dark cherries on the nose and medium finish. This made me think, WOW, what could the main wine be like. A year or so ago we opened up a third btl and there was a slight bret taint. I thought it was border-line of being off. But this fourth btl was so heavily corked, disappointing! Hopefully the next two btls are OK. I think I will use my Coravin to settle the disappointment (or not). Good luck to your btls.
The wine looks crimson colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle.

  • Decent wine. Needs about an hour to open up. Pretty nose of potpourri and bright red fruits, medium body with similar profile to nose, and short finish with drying tannins. Drink up.

  • I loved this wine. It is a fabulous representation of Bordeaux. Beautifully balanced and well worth the money. Decant it for an hour.
