Quite good. Have been disappointed by a few Potel wines recently. This wine has some weight to it and was a pleasure to drink. Nice cherry and cool dark fruit. Acid and tannins paired well with pork ribs tonight.
Decanted for about an hour and then consumed over the next 3 hours. On the nose there is an abundance of ripe red cherries and a touch of a menthol note. Somewhat lightweight on the palate with nice acidity. Midpalate is dominated by a racy quality to the cherry fruit flavors and the finish is simple and clean. I was expecting at least a touch of an oak influence but got very very little. I'd also like a bit more of an expression of the terrior. Enjoyable as it was, but there is nothing in this wine that makes it special enough to be worthy of the price or the text on the label. I'd have been more impressed with it had it been about 1/3 of the price or labeled as a 'villages' level bottling.
