Medium red color. Decanted for 20 minutes. Aromas of black raspberries, cola and underbrush. Ripe, nicely integrated fruit in the mouth with silky tannins, excellent depth and a long, sweet finish. Although still a touch young, a surprisingly complete and delicious wine ( with some decanting) at this time.
Popped and poured. From the start this was firing on all cylinders. Soaring nose of dried red florals, bright, cool red fruit, and a roasted mushroom undertone that was sublime. The palate was balanced and impressive with wonderful florals - a hallmark of this monopole from Volnay. Loved the subtle dried tobacco, exotic spiciness and searing acidity on the finish. Wish I had bought more of these...
Wife absolutely adores this wine. Not quite as aromatic as other recently consumed burgundies in this price range, but still a very nice and full nose of cherries and earth. Has a great mouthfilling structure on the palate while retaining elegance and finesse. Silky smooth tannins, just enough acid for balance, earth and spice notes with not as much fruit present. Really lovely stuff.
previous reviewer's notes are consistent. I would just add that this is a very pleasant wine and one I love serving to open up the evening especially among friends use to big brooding Cali Pinots or heavy oak, fruit bombs. I love the grace and finesse of this wine. And yet again, last weekend, it impressed my company, opened some eyes and made some friends.
