  • mature but still vibrant and quite delicious maybe even surprisingly so - drink soon though

  • The wine that should have been. Nose of old flowers and mud. Dark red and translucent color. Slight bitterness on the palate, but compelling, with adequate length. A hint of what it might have been. After about 40 min an oak note emerges. Left in an almost full 375ml on the counter, after 2 days it was more integrated, smoother and better balanced, but still too oaky. Definitely more interesting though, so perhaps it has a future.

  • The wine is light ruby in colour with the edge starting to turn garnet.
The nose is clean with fresh medium (+) intensity aromas of red fruit such as cherries, floral such as violets, spice such as liquorice, hint of oak such as vanilla, tertiary aromas of barnyard and forest floor. The wine is developing.
The palate is dry, with medium (+) acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, fine but grippy, medium body, medium (+) intensity flavours of cherry, liquorice, vanilla, forest floor. The finish is medium in length and a bit drying.
The wine should be drunk now (in the next 24 months) and is not suitable for further ageing.
The wine is very good quality. The fruit balances the acidity, and there is complexity from the mix of primary, secondary and tertiary development. The finish is of medium length but the wine lacks multiple flavour profiles.
A very nice Burgundy at a reasonable price.

  • Beautiful feminine nose, dainty, sweet, floral. Similar on the palate yet with some grip. A touch of sous bois. Very nice.

  • Exactly what you'd expect from a $35 bottle, perhaps a little more. A good effort in this vintage and price tier, this is most certainly at peak right now. Feminine and floral as some have already said, this worked well with pork cutlets and arugula salad. Medium-bodied with ample acids. Time to drink up, not getting any better. 13,0% abv.

    Served non-blind.
