Dinner at Isnin. Tasted blind. Drank in Grassl Cru. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of menthol, stony minerality, spice, dark red cherries, brambly undergrowth earth. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), chewy medium+ tannins, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of sweet ripe dark red cherries, polished black cherries, menthol, brambly underbrush earth, stony minerality, sweet spices. Long finish. Very good quality. Another 2005 that is chugging along just fine. No hurry to drink at all.

Better than the Senard 2005 Bresandes opened at the same time. Still, it is a disappointing GC. This bottling may improve with a few more years as it did seem to get fleshier and more flavourful as the evening went on.

Oxidation on the nose mainly disappears with time. Approachable, maturing fruiy/tannin profile. No fireworks.
