We poured the wine into a decanter and had the first glasses immediately. The wine was medium to dark ruby in colour and threw some sediment. It offered dark fruit, plum, chocolate, cocoa, leather, tobacco, leafy and vegetal notes as well as horsehair on the nose. On the palate the wine showed black currant, blueberry, blackberry, plum, cherry, raspberry, bell pepper, cocoa, vanilla, leather, tobacco and vegetal notes, with lively, medium to medium-plus acidity, fine, round, well-integrated medium-level tannin, a good, creamy mouthfeel and very good length. The medium-bodied Margaux became juicy and balanced after a few minutes in the decanter. Compared with bottles I had in the past, the wine had gained weight and seemed broader and less elegant, but other than that showed everything you would expect from a classic Bordeaux. We liked it a lot. A very respectable effort in the context of the vintage. I would recommend decanting for 30 minutes.

Not too bad. Tough vintage. Thought it a bit underwhelming but good depth even if lacked any brightness.
