Great wine! Quite toasted and burned on the nose with a hint of butter, bread, fudge, bell pepper and earth. Slim body, but with good concentration and less green stuff than I would have expected from the vintage. There is a slight tartness to the tannins, but nothing that won't go away with a handful of years in the cellar. Still drinks very nicely now for us that has no problems with tannins!
At Vin sur Vingt in Flatiron district with Patrick S. Great spot for wine and small bites in NYC. They serve most wines with a Coravin, they had a mag of this opened for about two hours, so proved to be a good choice
Deep purple/garnet color. Great nose of black fruits, cedar, graphite and spice. Palate was rich, fruit forward (for Bordeaux) , black currants, blackberry, mushroom and earth. Medium bodied and medium/long finish.
Classic St Julien. My experience with Gloria is its not built for the very long haul, this will probably continue to evolve but drinks well now
Not so rich, but a complete, old-fashioned, restrained red Bordeaux that managed very well even in this awkward vintage.
Still some purple notes à la robe. Bordeaux earth and oak take care of the medium intense nose. Per os, it is complete and quite rewarding already, even at this youthful point in time. M+ tannin that are well matured, M+ acids that underline the fruit rather than pierce it. And the finish is long enough and very nice. Only btl. If we had had one more, I'd give it ~5 yrs. Wife: 90 p. At Le Message in Gumyouji (Yokohama).
