On the nose: sweet cherry, ripe strawberry, earthy, musky, floral (rose, peonies maybe), baking spices (cinnamon), worn leather, anise, and nutmeg.
Med body, great concentration, med tannins, med+ acidity, med+ finish, slight spice on the finish. Really well balanced, in a great spot, and extremely complex!

Very pretty nose with strawberry, ripe red fruit, yet quite elegant and with good complexity, especially after a few hours in the glass. Well balanced with nice acidity to balance the ripeness of the vintage, more red fruit flavors and a slight jam note that did not distract from the fruit. Nice finish. Clearly the best of the Amoureuses.

We knew that this is a great wine, but we were worried about the year 2003, that is difficult year in Burgundy - but we can happily say that this wine is great also in 2003. This is an elegant and light wine with a good concentration of fruit and flavors on its palette. We are getting a lot of red fresh fruit including rips strawberries, cherries, raspberries and red currant - we a getting an underlying tone of forrest floor. We are also getting spices clearly chamomille - we are also getting a note of raw leather. Medium tannins and acidity and a great balance, in what is known as a challenging vintage. Semi long aftertaste. We are happy to give this wine a solid 95 rating.

This is a riper, spicier version of Amoureuses, at least for now. A little oak, and not subtle. At this stage, more like a good Calif pinot. Will be interesting to see what develops over the next 20 years. As an Amoureuses, probably an 87 at the moment, as a tasty glass of pinot, probably a 93 at the moment. So, hard to figure out a rating. But if you want to drink a tasty, spicy, somewhat more 'full', hedonistic pinot, this will do the trick. If you're looking for lacy Chambolle, keep holding this one...
