Color, clear red with copperish hue; 1st nose, China ink and hibiscus; 2nd nose, tar, smoked oak and roasted vanilla. On the palate, medium to big body, layered texture, smooth, balanced sweetness/tannins and medium to long finish. The bottle was double decanted an hour prior tasting. Paired well with grilled leg of lamb.

Just after decanting, the 82 Lagrange shows a raspberry, black earth, mineral, and cigar profile. While the aromatic elements are actually quite similar to the Lagranges of the 1940s and 1950s, this comes across as quite light compared to that era. The mouth has some pleasant fruit but it’s light here, too, and marred by brett which confers a mulched, fallen-leaf component. Time is a hindrance rather than a help, becoming increasingly brett-dominated with air. 88 points at its debut, tailing off to the low 80s after 20 minutes of air. From a neck fill bottle brought from France.

Fully mature and in good shape. I wouldn't decant -- we PnP'd and while it didn't fall apart, it didn't improve noticeably over an hour. Elegant but on the downslope

Intense and still fresh notes and lot of tobacco and liquerice. Was suprised by the freshnes and drinkability. A perfect representive of how the great 1982 vintage could make good producers better.

Pronounced nose intensity with notes of leather, meat, smoke, tobacco. Medium tannin and medium acidity.
