Fourteenth Annual White Truffle Dinner (Chez Weber - Chicago IL): Served single blind alongside the Bonnes Mares. Charming and ripe red fruit with subtle spice and elegant tannins. Nothing particularly indicated this was Chambolle for me, making it a very tasty, but somewhat indistinct Burgundy. I found this Amoureuses slightly more texturally complex than Bonnes Mares, making me prefer this wine.

It takes 1 hour plus for the wine to open up. Nose has herbs, berries, menthol and earth. Palate has some bright berries, and with aeration, the volume and sweetness gradually builds up. The oak is well integrated with a minty after-taste. You can taste the cool temperature of the vintage. It is not a blockbuster wine but certainly balanced and enjoyable today.

Ripe nose of cherries, minerals, a hint of coffee and despite the ripeness a green note every now and then. Also some spice. Very rich, round and full in the mouth. Quite sweet. While this wine is very good, and full of fruit for the age, there is harmony lacking which leaves you wanting more since all of the components are there. Not as much elegance as you would want given the site and the vintage. That said, it went down easy tonight.

(Domaine / Maison Vincent Girardin Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses) Very dark red violet color; maturing, baked cherry, red fruit, lilac nose; vanilla, red fruit, baked cherry palate, rather monolithic palate; medium-plus finish

A bit four squared but enjoyable with red fruit, spice, and flowers. I would expect more power and complexity for this terroir and vintage.

Really good red burg that kept evolving with air
Muted nose but complex on the palate with pleasant red fruit and spice
Wonderful wine to drink and follow over three hours
