Some browning at the edges. This is an interesting wine, with some peppery notes more reminiscent of Zin than Cabernet. But I dont find it an exceptional example of the 90 era Napa. I am not getting the structure or the secondary flavors suggested by Buckeye76. This bottle is not original to me and could have an impact on its quality/score. There are well resolved tannins and still some enjoyable primary red fruit, but I cant give this a score in the 90's.

Disagree with some of the earlier notes. This wine was smoking tonight and could easily go 3-4 more years. Very deep garnet color in the bowl, lighter ruby on the edge. Deep black fruits, leather, licorice and hints of spice in the nose. Blackberries, black currants, plums, and black cherries with licorice notes in the flavor. Full bodied, very well balanced with a long smooth, silky finish. It would have warranted even a higher score if it had another level of complexity and nuance, but all in all was absolutely delicious at 26 years old.

Past its peak but still going strong for its age! Lots going on and flavorful but so pleasantly restrained compared to current style. Really nice. Drink up.

Wine Flock Intro Retro - Cabs (Jordan's): Tasted blind in what turned out to be a 97 Cali Cab flight. This is a very modernly styled Cab with a big rich, toasty, mocha nose. Wow, densely packed with ripe toasty black fruit. There is balancing acidity and freshness and velvety tannin. Well-made, with a hint of heat in the finish the only real draw back, if you enjoy the riper, lusher, sweeter style. A bit much for me.

Chicago Wine Flock..."Bordeaux and Cali Cab from Jordan" (Chez Whitehead - Northbrook IL): Tasted double blind in what turned out to be 1997 Cali Cab flight, all open 4 hours in advance with a quick double decant. Starts of sweet and fleshy. Ends less rich, showing more structure and less grace vs Dalla Valle. Still very good.
