  • Beautiful aromatics on the nose with a lot of soft spice. Palate losing its fruit though. 93-

  • There was a level of hype associated with this wine from members of the tasting group. So expectations were reasonably high given the period this came from. It did have some quality to it but generally I found it fell short of the mark. It was almost green, underripe and must have been a real tough one to wrestle with as an infant. The palate is deep fruited but not in the lithe almost ethereal manner that some of the great wines are. Maturity or should I say old age are creeping in and starting to make it look a little long in the tooth. Structurally there are a few edges to contend with and in the end it really doesn't have the flesh to balance.
