Still young and fresh and one of the good examples of zin with a bit of age on it. A big wine, even with 8 years on it, the fruit is nice boysenberry with chocolate, pepper and a nicely acidic, tannic zing on the finish. A slightly acoholic nose of cherry and zinberry. Is it monolithic? A bit. Is it big? Yes. Is it worthwhile and fun to drink? You bet. Get some if you can.
Decanted for 2 hours. Wonderful fruit and spice, but not jammy. The 2004 may have been a bit more complex, but the 05 still possessed some floral notes. Overall an interesting and cellar worthy Zin that mellowed nicely nearly 7 years from harvest.
