What a wine. This was an original disgorgement bottling but it was in mint condition and had obviously been looked after well.. Golden in colour with a very gentle spritz. The seductive nose was full of toffee, brioche and white chocolate. To be honest there was probably even more going but I stopped there for some reason. The palate was even better, with notes of Chocolate, Seaweed, coffee and sea salt. It had this wonderful umami character that so many great champagnes have. I just kept coming back to it and finding something else. If this is the regular vintage, one can only imagine how good the Winston Churchill 1982 is at the moment. Buy it, drink it!
Tasting of 5 Champagnes at Primas. Featured Chardonnay grapes and did they make a big difference to me in this tasting! The nose was very toasty and fruity that led to a great chardonnay mouthful of wine with great acid that suggests it will age another 3-4 years, great complex flavors in the mouth, long finish and great aftertaste. My #1. Yes I bought it at the special price that day.
