  • My last bottle and I'm sad to see this one go. Black cherry, some cola, black tea, five spice, and molasses. Great, great wine with plenty of concentration, suggesting several years ahead.

  • Powerful nose of baking spice, violet, leather, watermelon, and strawberry compote. Medium-bodied with medium acidity. Powerful finish. Starting to turn the corner and should continue to mature without risk of suddenly falling apart. Drink now to at least 2022.

  • Gorgeous nose, sweet berry, baking spice, mahogany, iron, and a hint of saddle leather. Texturally, like a Chambolle, with flavors leaning closer towards the Morey side. Is in a great place for people who like a balance of fruit and complexity. A silky mouth feel with a bit of gras and ample power leads to a round, spicy finish. Sound acids suggest it has at least a few years of life left. Try to drink this one slowly, as it really blossoms with air. (Best now to 2017).

  • Blueberry, raspberry, balsam, cinnamon, & iodine. Morey-like iron notes; refined on the floral-inflected finish (92-93). Will improve over the year, but good to go after 30 minutes of being opened. Drink now-2017.

edit: With more air, this is getting wild spicy notes on the nose and finish. Young, brash California pinot, without having to go over-the-top. I might add a tick to the score (92-94).

edit: 45 minutes from opening. Wow! This is all coming together. The intensity is balanced and focused. I am loving this right now (93+).

edit: Holds its poise the next day. The finish is more elegant, but I think I liked yesterday's exuberance a bit more. So, I'd drink up now-2015 to enjoy that side.
