I think the 2000 vintage was just too hot and overrated. The wines seem to have aged a bit fast and are candied and sweet cherry. They aren't horrible, but after about 6 different producers i know it's just not my vintage. That said, this is a nice bottle. Has tar and roses and is still tannic, and one of the better 2000s. Gobs of sediment as you would expect. I would drink sooner rather than later.
Altogether a good bottle, but lacking in real distinction. Nose is lightly tarry with floral. Palate is dark, earthy, with bing cherry twang in the middle. Moderate acid and after a while a good hit of tannin.
Needs a minimum of an hour to open. Classic tar and floral notes on the nose along with a sweet moist soil quality. The palate is chewy, very dark, minerally, with a leathery, earthy background. Moderate tannins are nicely integrated.
