Certainly tasted it's age. It wasn't bad but one certainly has to not mind a mature wine. It took about 5 min to settle into a consistent taste. Fruit still there but not as vibrant as a vintage within it's drinking time frame.
I did not take detailed notes. However, I was surprised that this was still holding together. First couple sips were off, but after letting it air for 15 mins, it started to come around. Went will with homemade grilled hamburgers. Plummy and round, some tannins, but pretty soft. Color was still good. Some black fruits on the nose as well as some hints of plums.
Just about over the hill. Orange at the rim with some nice fruit early on. No noticeable tannins. Plummy and smooth for about an hour. Nice, full midpalate. After an hour the fruit started to drop. Still slightly viscous but fading. Was a nice sendoff to the last bottle in a case that cost me $14 per.
