Dark garnet. Very Medoc-like nose with intense cedar, leather, noble barnyard scents, cherry, cassis, liquorice and sweet spice. Medium-bodied with soft tannins, vibrant fruit and balancing acidity. Long aftertaste. At peak but will continue drinking nicely for several more years. The best Don Melchor I've had to date. Excellent!

A textural, smooth, balanced wine with wonderful black fruit that has a very light minty edge and terrific earthy, cigar-box complexity. Good acidity and back-end tannin. This is close-knit and tasty. A lovely wine. The bouquet did blow off over several hours, and it showed a bit more mint and chocolate with the black fruit. Overall, a really lovely wine. A-
