'Aged Aussies' Dinner (Joseph's Place, Wong Chung Hang, Hong Kong): Transparent but brightly jeweled amber. Nose is fresh black plum with some kumquat in the background. Lots more going on too. Palate is slightly toffied and very rounded in the mouth. Good length. Still has lots of life. I love the way the label uses the Imperial measurement - 1 Pint, 6 Fl. Oz. - very Commonwealth. Wow....what a treat!

Extraordinary for a 48 year old wine. was not expecting it still to be alive and it was. Garnet colour, not oxidised fruit still going, amazing. Probably a once in a lifetime experience. Medium bodied red and black fruit, plenty of forest floor, the complexity of the years, shortish on the finish as often the case with really old wines. It was marked as 1 Pint 6 Fl Oz - which is the same as 75cl and under St Henri was marked "Claret". Fascinating and still drinking well.

I think this wine, on the bottle I had, is on the decline. Fill was high shoulder so perhaps better bottles around but given this showing I wouldn't be paying the kind of money some people are prepared to pay. Very muddy/earthy on the nose with a touch of oak still noticeable. Quite drying on the palate with a subtle hint of fruit flavour which is mostly swallowed up by tannin. Nostalgia is driving prices here.

A Pint of Claret from a "Special" vintage. I have to admit this was so much fun to drink. Still going strong. Beautiful
