  • Rostaing's 1999 Côte-Rôtie La Landonne is, as usual, strikingly beautiful and continues to drink at what must now be considered a very long peak. Dark fruit, grilled meat, and earth aromas prelude a transparent palate of raspberry that offers excellent persistence. So light on its feet. So pure. So, so good.

  • Rostaing's 1999 Landonne is, as always, drop dead gorgeous with soaring aromatics of dark fruit, florals, and bacon fat. So much dense fruit and savory meatiness on the palate yet little sense of weight, pure and elegant. Soft tannins. An exemplar Côte-Rôtie.

  • 1999 Northern Rhone Tasting along with 67 Pall Mall Philippe Guigal Masterclass (Line up: E.Guigal La Landonne '99, E.Guigal La Mouline '99. E.Guigal La Turque '99, Chateau d'Ampuis '99, Rene Rostaing Cote Blonde '99, Rene Rostaing La Landonne '99): Candied black fruits and plums on the nose, which was more matured than that of the '99 E.Guigal La Landonne. Palate of black fruits, cassis, earth, flowers, black tea. This was the most feminine bottle tonight. Silky, graceful, elegant. Nice, dark finish. Open up

  • Decanted a couple of hours prior. A nice, tertiary wine with a noticeable amount of brett. Maybe the best of an underwhelming lot of vaunted Côte Rôtie.

  • At a few weeks, before the wine reaches its 20th birthday celebration, this is rocking! Full-bodied, opulently textured and packed with layers of ripe, dark red fruits from start to finish. The end note, with its spicy, deep red fruits lingers and expands.
