  • Subsequent notes on this wine from 8 years ago. Deep, dark garnet in color with slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, cassis & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & mint notes, some floral notes, classic cedar & tobacco notes, herbs, anise, minerals, spices & vanilla/oak in the background. Full to medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & cassis with cocoa, herbs, minerals, spices, mint & vanilla/oak in the background. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present at 27 years of age but doubt there would be any further development from additional aging although it should hold at this plateau for a few more years.

  • Chicago Wine Flock...Krengels compare New vs Old World (Casa Krengel - Bannockburn IL): Tasted double blind. Black plum and cherry with some cassis and faint spice. Rich start, good+ weight and length. Drinking wonderfully now, but this will most likely continue to drink well for another decade.

  • Perfect cork, a bit of lightening at the rim. Popped and poured from a magnum. Nose of black fruits plus cedar. I took this to a charity event. Most people at the table had never had a wine of this quality. Complex with a long finish, will keep for a few years but I would enjoy now.

  • Deep, dark garnet in color with no signs of aging. Fragrant, attractive and complex nose of well developed & mature, ripe fruit aromas of dark cherries, cassis and plums with dark cocoa & mint overtones, classic cedar & aged tobacco notes, dried herbs, licorice, minerals, some spices and toasted oak in the background. Full to medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of balanced, well developed & mature, supple texture, seamless & elegant, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & cassis with dark cocoa, herbs, minerals, earthy, spices, mint and toasty oak in the background. Long lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting and airing but doubt there would be any further development from additional aging although it should hold at this plateau for a few more years.
