11/7/11 - A surprisingly aromatic and complex wine for the price, but I forgot to record any tasting notes before I finished the bottle. I'll make notes on the next bottle.

NC Cindy Tasting, Blinds Night. (NC Wino's Stately Wayne Manor): NC Cindy tasting, Blinds Night. California Zinfandels. Tasted non-blind, because it was too much bother, and we couldn't figure out what we were really comparing, anyway. The color of this wine was a touch lighter than I expected, but the nose wasn't. Very strong aromas of cherry and raspberry, with a significant amount of both heat and oak. On the palate, this was really big and jammy. There were lots of blackberries and particularly figs. It was quite sweet on the palate and seemed fairly hot, despite being a Zin with "only" 14.9% ABV. The finish was not particularly long, and the alcohol got in the way. Overall, this was a good, tasty wine, but not great by any stretch. At the reported price paid of $20, this is a bit of a stretch.

Luscious Zin. Have always been impressed by Four Vines Sophisticate and Maverick Zins. I wouldn't hold this vintage much longer.

Jammy, with flavors of currants, strawberries, mollasas. Having with lamb and roasted beets with goat cheese.

Still drinking very well, this time with grilled ribs. It needed about 45 minutes to really open up.
