Medium ruby. On open, medium nose of cherry, herbs. With time, more subtle nose of musk, raspberries. Light-medium body though building heft with air, low chewy tannins, medium+ acidity. Red fruits and herbs continue on the palate, with slight bitterness (lemon rind). Medium finish. Surprisingly lively for its age.
Better than expected. Cakebread is not known for their Pinot and most of the fruit for this one comes from Carneros. Nice bright fruit with depth and character. Worth every penny. Cherry with soft bing cherry notes coupled with the roundness of boysenberry.
