Drank with Christmas dinner, filets, baked potatoes and roasted cauliflower. The wine is at an unbelievable phase. The bouquet is magnificent, from the moment I smelled the wine I knew it would be special. Unbelievably smooth and polished tannins with energetic fruit- beautiful red fruit notes with a touch of spice. Decanted through vinturi about two hours before serving. About the right lead time. Other than a cork that crumbled, there was no sign that this wine was 26 years old.

Decanted off its sediment and followed off and on over a few hours. Deep youthful ruby/crimson core with a bit of bricking. Opens with a bit of earthy funk which tails off, replaced by black currant, saddle leather and cigar box notes. Fully-integrated, this shows currant, leather and baked plum flavors. Balanced. Nice complexity, good fruit; my only real complaint is that this was just a bit thin across the midpalate. In a nice place right now, I see no reason to hold any longer.

Drank this in a magnum. Bought at Randy’s place. Nose jumped out of the glass. Bit of a Bordeaux nose with leather, tertiary smells of dark fruit. Medium tannins and drinking nicely now but still has a lot of life left. I would love to try it with a Mouton or Lynch Bages side by side. I have benn drinking Dunn since the 1995 vintage age and most of the bottles have been drunk too young. But this is so enjoyable.

Another Allred bottle on Friendsgiving. Similar notes to prior bottle from almost ten years ago. These Dunn HM bottlings seem to go on and on.
