  • 2012 end-of-drinking window? Hardly. This thing is still very much in the High Hosanna window. Balanced despite its abv; the fruit has reduced slightly, but is wholly integrated. The bright cherries of yesteryear have mostly evaporated, leaving in its place a sense of nothing so much as root beer (maybe hint of licorice, too). For the first hour it was actually surprisingly lively and nervy; three hours in it had thickened on the palate, and the sense of the fruit having reduced was even more palpable. Deliciousness.

  • Hurricane Sandy tasting - well, at least we tasted this one bottle. High forward acidity and deep nose of cherry and rhubarb. Delicious and complex taste of cherry, rhubarb and cola with a long finish. Although distracted by the howling winds and the thought that a tree was about to crash through the ceiling, I thought this was a quite impressive CA Pinot Noir and one of the best JS's I've had in a while. This should continue to improve with age.

  • Classic Ca pinot noir. Cherry, spice on the nose and palate. Smooth, no noticeable remaining tannin. Very drinkable, probably time to drink up.

  • 14.6% alcohol. Sad to see this wine go. Last bottle. A ripe nose of cherry and spice. Less floral than the last bottle. Lush on the palate. Totally drinkable. Delightful. A-

  • 14.6% alcohol. Such a light red color. Aromatic nose of ripe cherry, spice, and flowers. This really is distinctly floral in some bottles, but it always has the same, compelling cherry fruit profile. Pretty wine. A-
