Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 93 points

  • A dusty nose of sandalwood and leather with anise/licorice notes throughout, rose petal/briary scents with dark cherry fruit. As powerfully structured (tannic) as this is, the wine still retains plenty of Gevrey Transparency both aromatically and on the palate. This opens up to show some damp woodland suggestions with a note soy coming through with an hour+ of air time. Very well-preserved and true vin de garde for the ages! 92-93 with upside potential that should age for decades! Yes, that’s plural.

Older vintages of this particular cuvée have shown very very well! The 1971 Gevrey chez Faiveley one of the most mesmerizing wines from a few years back.
