Community Tasting Notes (2) Avg Score: 89.5 points

  • From a 500ml bottle. The last of the 2 bottles I purchased on release. Still drinking well at 20 years old. I opened this next to a 2001 *** Auslese from Bolig-Lehnert which Iliked slightly better. Deep yellow color. Creamier than the Bollig with melon and pineapple notes. Thicker texture. Tried this over 2 days. 89 points.

  • Theo Minges is in Terry Theise's protfolio. He owns 15 hectares in the Pfalz. The Gleisweiler Holle vineyard is one of his top sites. His grapes are hand harvested and his Riesling vines are planted in a chalky/stony soil. 2002 was a very good year in the Pfalz. His wines represent a very good value. Despite being from the Pfalz, this wine had some distinct Mosel characteristics to it. Not overly aromatic but the chalkiness came through in the wine. Medium to full bodied with above average sweetness. It was actually drier than I expected but still too much for most foods. Thick texture and very well rounded but needs time. Notes of creamy fruit, pear and honey dew melon. 90+ points.
