One of two Alzero's that were the highlight for me at a tasting of Quintarelli Amarones. Sweet but well balanced and delicious with good length. A lovely wine

Attractive and promising bouquet, on the palate there is pruney sweetness and chocolaty herbality, more powerful and a tad better structured than the -94 but not quite as much tertiary aromas as in the -93. All and all an excellent wine.

Decanted this for about 3 hours prior to serving - some heavy sediment so beware. Brought this to a blind tasting and was a bit of polarizing wine. This vintage is definitely much more off-dry than the 2006 I had this past summer. Dark and syrupy almost, lot of prunes and raisins and residual sugar on the initial taste. But sipping it slowly over time the varied and complex flavors start to present themselves. Most tasters guessed this was amarone and were surprised to find out it was a cab franc made in the amarone style. Very interesting, but for me this bottling was just a bit too sweet.
