Underbrush and some soft mentholated notes to the nose. Still holds some red cherry fruit on the palate. Day 5 and aromas come around more than ever. Feels more youthful than the last couple days suggested. Red cherry tar and just a little flint and earth. With more time in the glass, the aromas are picking up a full head of steam. Classic, harmonious. Day 8 and holding the line. Charming to drink with mushroom and truffle ravioli Day 10 and astoundingly so that today it’s at its best form yet. Honestly after the way it started out on day 1, I never saw this one coming. Even keel, not to fruity or too mature. No tannin today.

mature red fruit and underbrush. Some flint and matchstick. Nice aged expression. Light tannin. Lots of spice too. Enjoyable balance, but better with food.

1985 Barbaresco (Palo Alto): Nose: strawberry, funky sous-bois, balsamic; with time developing black currant and rose hips. Very nice. P: Balsamic, caramel, wonderful balance of sweetness and acid. Still a little grippy, but tannins nearly resolved. Lovely sweetness on the finish. Excellent. My 2/8, group's 1/8. Tasted blind.
