Opened the day Before and was then completely oxidised and not very pleasant at all. Waited 24 hours and the development was fantastic. Still a very mature feeling, but fresh ripe tropical fruits, sweet lemon pie, but also nuts, and apricot. FAntastic wine, that you really need to allow to breathe for a long time for it to shine. Expanded even further in the glass as we finished this bottle over about 1 1/2 hour (4 persons).

Opened and decanted ,first sips after one hour ,tottaly oxidised with a tiny amount of fruits ,almonds in the end(86).Decided to leave it to next day and it was a good call,as the wine improved nicely oranges, coconut came through, one can sit and smell and taste this for hours as it is so complex and intriguing. It still had a lot of oxidised notes (90),so I let it sit for another day and a half.WOW!What a beautiful glass of wine!Full bodied,it seemed like a dry sauternes, extraordinary stuff, complexity at maximum level, loads os orange peels,unforgettable!(96) Final rating:(86+90+96)/3=89,67

Monthly Tuesday group "The Dead Sparrow" #018: Nicolas Joly; Savennieres, Loire, France. (by DJ): In the bouquet dry honey, banana, caramel and orange. On the palate honey, yellow fruits like pineapple and apricot, some sweet impressions, but in fact quite dry. Tasty and full bodied and a bit oxidized, which was for some tasters a bit disturbing, but not for me. Full bodied and a good length.

This was at its best on days two and three. It never showed that well however, and had this problem some Joly bottles sometimes have of never being able to fully come together. Nice acid and nice fruit, but somehow working in parallel, not together. Even though this is 13% (less alcohol than other vintages, definitely less than the 07) it comes accross as à little hot on the finish.

(Nicolas Joly Les Clos Sacres Chenin Blanc) COLOR-medium amber; NOSE-very aromatic; TASTE-enormous amounts of dried apricots; some copper penny as well (minerality); GV-No Score
