Seymour Wine Club Meeting 1/20/18 (Home of the Slywka's): Tasted Blind. Aromas of dried cherry, mushroom and earth. Flavors of dried cherry, mushroom and dried strawberry. This still had quite a bit of fruit in it and really opened up over 30 minutes. Ends with a beautiful 30+ second finish. I was surprised because of the quality of the vintage overall and the previous 07 Shea's I have had have been so so. I gave this 93 points and it won wine of the night.

Light color even with a little bricking. Despite the the fragile color, this was a rather large scaled wine for the vintage, but quite balanced. Nose was quite expressive with a floral quality to the red fruits. Red fruit and underbrush on the palate, which was supple and round but plenty of verve. Moderate finish with some sandalwood and spice notes mixed in. Quite nice. Probably at peak for me.

The 2007 vintage is starting to age well. The fruit is starting to take second fiddle to sandlewood, mushroom, and earth. Beautiful texture and long finish.

(Shea Wine Cellars Pinot Noir Homer Cuvée) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-really nice nose; nice fruit and very candied on the back-end; PALATE-this is spectacular; this is SILK on the back-end; concentrated melted down red fruit and silky smooth; one of the most smooth and elegant Pinot's that also delivers great concentration on the mid-palate that I've come across in a long time; this is not cheap, but stacks up very well against many more expensive Pinots & Burgundy's; the fruit is very bright; the edges are very complex; a mocha/chocolate component on the back-end; GV-93/94
