Pop and pour, then decanted and drunk over a couple hours
At first pretty shrill and earthy, with thin red fruits and a little prickliness, but after about 30 minutes in a decanter this unfurled. Loam, cool pinot fruit, spice and oddly an almost eucalyptus like medicinal herbal note. Midweighted deep and expansive on the palate with outstanding texture carrying power without heaviness. There is a lot going on and while this is a pretty stark contrast to the Remy Latricieres served before it, there is something undeniably outstanding here. Terrific balance, harmony and a snense of inner clam. Very long. Super interesting. At peak with time in hand for me. 93

Medium deep garnet color. Nose was a bit restrained initially but it gradually opened to reveal spicy blackfruit aromas, oak elements, and some earthiness. Pleasant acidity and good length. Went well with duck. Was tasted next to the 2007 Saintsbury Toyon Farm and the 2007 Rivers-Marie Summa Vineyard. The latter was a much more complex and interesting wine than the Beaux Freres.

Initially astringent but turned beautiful after 45 min in glass. Prominent bouquet, medium body with earth tones and good fruit. Last bottle. :(
