Wow. 18 years later and absolutely wonderful. Velvety finish. Subtle structure. Some dark fruit and spice. Lovely. Was surprised to find a bottle in the cellar still, and more surprised by the graceful aging. What a treat!
A pleasant surprise. Popped and poured. Dark red bordering on brown in color, nose is all mature notes - leather and cedar. In the mouth, I'm surprised by how much fruit is left. Dark fruits give way to an awesome grilled meat note with some clove and baking spice on the finish. Fully alive, tannins resolved, great acidity. My expectations were low but this is a very nice wine and I'd dare to say it's nowhere near falling off a cliff, which is what I expected.
