  • Pen ink and something earthy on the nose. On the palate, black cherry, cranberry, plum, red and black berry fruit, and notes of pen ink and bitter ash, with moderate to strong tannins and moderate acidity on the long finish. Tasting this blind, I would have called it as a fairly high-end Bordeaux from a good year. This was excellent, and it was an excellent value at about $50; it was worth holding it for 15 years. This still seemed quite young, with a least another decade to go, so based on the other tasting notes here bottle variation may be in play. This was kept at 56F since release. It did throw some sediment, but it was chunky and easy to pour off, so decanting probably isn't required.

  • Classic super Tuscan - a Cali Cab fruit bomb with Tuscan finesse - deep w/ great length - goes on and on - mature but not at all tired - will live longer - I don’t know how much better it will get, and I’ll never know bc it was my last - not particularly elegant, but plenty subtle - pure pleasure - as my wife just said, “it’s f***ing great!”

  • always excellent and definitely fully mature now, this has evolved to the point where i suspect it has begun its decline, albeit gracefully. earthy and plummy on the nose, with leafy notes and saddle leather. palate is full and plush. still nicely balanced, some acidic pop, some tannin on the back end, and lovely savoury flavours complemented by cherry and herbs. so good.

  • Nice wine. Black cherry, black and red currants, chocolate and espresso, herbs. Already in the drinking spot, although tannins are still present.

  • Last tasted nearly eight years, this tasting clearly surpassed that one. Black fruits and licorice in the nose. Blackberries, black currants and black cherries in the flavor. Full bodied, extremely well balanced, nice complexity, and a long silky finish. This vintage is singing right now.
