Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Color deep straw, clear. Evolved nose of lemon and pineapple, minerals, distinct butterscotch, creamy vanilla, and initially some strong oak that diminished after half an hour. This was at least medium bodied, with considerable glycerin giving it weight and viscosity in the mouth. Fruit was intact, big and ripe, predominantly lemon and the previously noted butter along with some spiciness in a lengthy finish. Oak was quite well integrated. Biggest distraction was that the acid level has largely fallen off, leaving the fruit flat, which was not a problem given we consumed this more by itself than with food. Also an acceptable tradeoff to get the additional nuances of an aged chardonnay in the nose and taste. Overall an excellent showing for a well made wine given we acquired this only in the last year and I am certain the storage conditions were room temp at best for the previous 6-7 years.
