Bottle had a slight leak to it. Just noticed it, so we popped the cork. Light golden in color. The nose is great. Possibly a bit advanced. A bit of diesel, slight pineapples and wet rocks. Viscous texture. Sweet, more like a spatlese. Nice minerality. Mature. Decent acidity. Very tasty. Bottle was drained quickly.
Dinner at Fairview Farm; take-out Origin. Lemons and yellow peaches--light acidity and not too sweet; but perhaps too refined for the Thai food pairing--Pad Kee Mao and wild boar. Wished I'd brought Spatlese...
Riesling rendezvous (Bern, Switzerland): Much heavier than the other wines, a difficult comparison. An alluring body. Hmm, is there a touch of TCA holding this back? (Conclusion after a couple of days was NO.)
Beautiful wine. Showcases the Donnhoff depth of flavor but light touch. Nahe cherry in evidence along with ripe yellow fruits. A welcome but more than needed match with grilled Andouille chicken sausages, and delicious on its own at the conclusion of dinner. Certainly this will age gracefully but I'll drink them over the next couple of years for the ebullient fruit.

(Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett) This has a herby nose, with a pure, green and leafy fruit character albeit with a creamy edge, if that is feasible. The palate makes a very good impression, pure with a lovely weight, rich but well balanced. Bright with well defined, lifted flavours and a fleshy substance. Moderate length. Very good indeed.
