Deep mid ruby. Quite an elegant, restrained nose, dark red fruit, a touch of pepper. Smooth, mellow fruit, good length and decent acidity. Really very northern Rhone in profile. Lovely. ***1/2

This was a very good magnum bottle . Very typical shiraz notes on the nose and very nicely integrated tannins on the palate. Only some slightly burnt tones that I don't like but find often in wines from SA.

Our local wine shop carries this producer, and I must admit that I think they should reconsider. Shiraz should be more potent, more full bodied, more lasting somehow than Waterford. I enjoyed the nose/aroma, and while the taste was favorful, it left me "empty" - can't really describe it other than this being somewhat flabby or lacking in structure. On top of this, it was not very moderately priced. I'd pass on buying it again.

Color is dark garnet to the rim. Nose reveals black berry fruit, lots of toasty oak, and a hint of earthy barnyard. Palate shows tart blackberry, earth, and a healthy dose of oak. Good, but not profound.

I didn't know what to expect from this, but it was a nice surprise - not too hot, blackberry, toasted oak, dark (from the mouvedre), but silky smooth.
