P: A gripping fist of intense, dark red fruits, almost black to the core, with a dry mineral note that leads into the finish. Great upfront entry but surprisingly quite short on the finish. Enjoyed the nose much better than the palate.

Wine-a-palooza (Jason's house): Pop and pour from magnum, but I had my glass about 45 minutes after it was opened. Surprisingly soft for an Abreu vineyard. This is just a crowd-pleasing red that is pleasurable and tasty.

Just fine, but not worth the price (at 150$ it's unreasonable). Good structure, dark fruit, and tobacco/oak on the nose. I'm not sure this will improve anymore with age, but it also did not seem to be coming apart.

(Abreu Vineyard Howell Mountain Lucia Abreu Vineyard) The original 11 acres, planted in 2002, tend to ripen together and are picked at the same time. A 7-acre block was added in 2006. The cuvée is 58-65% Cabernet Sauvignon, the rest comprising Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Merlot. Warmer nights and cooler days on Howell Mountain result in a unique structure, with a balance of ripe fruit and rounded tannins. The wine proves that grapes from this area can achieve phenological ripeness yet be approachable early. Winery Spotlight: Abreu Vineyard

Cracking the whip; 10/16/2023-10/23/2023 (Eagan, MN): N: Fresh dark red fruits, dark red floral notes, bright minerals and deep earth. So aromatic on the nose.

Wine Palooza (Eagan, MN): Good but nothing off the charts. Blueberries, spice, minerals, earth and tobacco notes. Medium finish. Drink now.
