Unfortunately, this bottle was a little funky. Way past its prime. Other 2006 and 2004 Patz & Hall Pinots i had recently were much better as far as lasting this long.

Medium density orangy brown red with orange limb. Nose is perky cooked red berries. THis is a viscous wine, thick in the mouth. Rasberries, cranberries, dark cherries, yet a creamy mouthfeel. Fortunately the acids balance the heavy, creamy, cooked characters. Finish is longish with figs and red berries with some tartness to the sides of the tongue. A heavy wine for a heavy meal.

On the nose, strong raspberry compote. Honestly this was like drinking a nicely balanced bowl of crushed raspberries. After about 20 minutes the wine opened up and sang. Lively acids went well with chicken and polenta.

The 2006 Archer Family Vineyards Pinot Noir delivers big, extracted flavors, with dark brooding elements of blackberry, plum and black cherry. (Varietal: 100% Pinot Noir)(ALC: 14.2 %)
