Another bottle (2 more left) decanted 2 hours... clear nose of toasted bread :) Still has an underlying sweetness and kind of hints at Beaucastel, quite fun to drink. Began to fade after three hours. At the time the price was less than half of its big brother, a bargain. One year Beaucastel had more than CDP allows, so dumped the excess into Coudoulet. Another bottle 10/27/17 with same review.

Wow, what a surprise! Found six bottles in the cellar, brought one up to try, loved it! Lots of sediment. Great nose of cranberries that came through to the taste, plus sour cherries. Clean and crisp CDP taste, a pleasure to drink. Still going after 90 minutes.

PnP. Brownish red (translucent). Surprised to find this so fresh and the structure so intact. Cedar, earth, spice and some red fruit. Bright acidity and fairly firm tannins. Medium light fruit on entry that fades against the structure by midpalate, towards the finish. Would rate 95 for the pleasant surprise factor alone, but on merit is just very good. Was fine with pasta/red sauce.

A pleasant surprise for fast drinking - soft cedary nose and taste with fruit lasting through a lingering finish - but the fruit disappeared in 30 minutes, leaving not much flavor or (fortunately) wine.

8 Rhone Reds Tasted (Walnut Creek, Ca.): Nose of cedar, allspice, and forest floor, medium body, same on the palate, tasty, fully mature, medium/long finish. My #2 of 8.
