Popped and poured from a magnum. Deep garnet color. No visual signs of aging. Cassis and tobacco up front with some secondary characteristics of sous bois. Tannins are mostly resolved at this point and it's comfortably resting within its drinking window. While it's not exactly soul stirring, it has good balance and enough in the tank to see 2020. Drink or Hold for the next five years.
Substantially improved over the last bottle 7 or 8 months ago. Wish I had more to try another year or two down the road. Aerating and decanting for about an hour helped it open up - even better the second night. Paired nicely with grilled strip steaks and roasted broccoli.
Garnet color, slight purple tinge; on nose brambles, sweet berries, some cedar; on palate soft with a tannic back-bone which lends it some character. A wine made in the modern fashion; decent and well drinkable. (3 stars)
